About Prudence

Who we are

Prudence was founded in March 2026 by Michael Johnson Jr (mathematician and singer), Keithan Funk (audio engineer), and Dylan Howard (audio engineer).

What started as a working relationship between music makers, our relationship evolved into a proper company whose goal is to simulate retro sound.

But who are we outside of Prudence?

Keithan Funk and Dylan Howard started the experimental music group Benny.loud and, they’re currently focusing on their hip-hop/pop/rnb group theafterparty

Our tech

Prudence Retro is a 100% vanilla JavaScript Single Page Application. All audio processing is done in the browser.

We are a “pure analog” company, meaning: we are not hip to the vibe-coding trend (all Prudence Retro code is written solely by Michael Johnson Jr). We are proud to say our company was made with Love, by human hands.

Our values

We believe in serving the community first, which is why Prudence is free and ad-free, and always will be (though we encourage donations!)

We want to solve solely problems that standard DAWs / VSTs have not solved, or problems whose solution is not exactly affordable.

We believe in good design and an intuitive UX. We believe in good and quick member support when users run into errors.

We have a strict policy against the use of AI: it is absolutely prohibited, as it disrupts the creative process, and stunts critical thinking.

Finally, we want to help people make music that sounds good to them, effectively helping musicians get ideas from their mind to a .wav.
